Introduction: The Charity of Your Body Did you know that your body has 360 joints? In Islam, we are encouraged to give charity (Sadaqah) for each one of these joints every single day as gratitude for the ability to move. Sounds difficult, right? Thankfully, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ gave us a simple solution: Salat Al-Duha (The Forenoon Prayer).
What is Salat Al-Duha? It is a voluntary prayer performed in the morning hours. The Prophet ﷺ called it the prayer of the "Awwabin" (those who frequently turn back to Allah). It serves as a spiritual "payment" for the health of your body.
Key Benefits
-
Fulfills 360 Charities: Praying just 2 Rak'ahs of Duha counts as the required charity for every joint in your body.
-
Protection for the Day: In a Hadith Qudsi, Allah says: "O son of Adam, pray for Me four Rak'ahs at the beginning of the day, and I will suffice you for the rest of it." This means Allah will take care of your needs, protect you from harm, and bless your Rizq (sustenance).
How & When to Pray
-
Time: It starts about 15-20 minutes after Sunrise and ends about 15 minutes before Dhuhr prayer.
-
Method: The minimum is 2 Rak'ahs. You can also pray 4, 6, or 8 Rak'ahs, praying them in sets of two.
-
Recitation: You can recite any Surah after Al-Fatiha.
Conclusion Make Salat Al-Duha a non-negotiable part of your morning routine. It takes less than 10 minutes but sets the tone for a productive, blessed, and protected day.
