Introduction: The Icon of Patience When we face hardships, we often ask, "Why me?" But history tells us about a man who lost everything—his immense wealth, his 14 children, and his health—yet never asked "Why?" That man was Prophet Ayoub (Job), Peace Be Upon Him. His story is the ultimate comforting balm for anyone suffering from illness or loss.
The Great Trial Prophet Ayoub was blessed with everything a man could desire. Then, Allah decided to test his gratitude. Disease ate away at his body until he was bedridden for years. His wealth vanished, and his children passed away. Everyone abandoned him except his loyal wife. Despite this agony, his heart remained connected to Allah, constantly praising Him.
The Polite Supplication After years of suffering, Ayoub finally turned to Allah. He didn't demand a cure; he simply stated his condition with extreme humility:
"Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful." (Quran 21:83)
The Miraculous Recovery Allah commanded him to strike the earth with his foot. A spring of cool water gushed forth. He bathed in it and was cured of all skin diseases; he drank from it and was cured of all internal pain. Allah then restored his wealth and gave him back his family, doubling their number as a mercy.
