Wiping over the socks

I saw the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, wiping over the anklets (the socks) and the veil (turban).

He responded with a gesture

Ibn Omar said: I said to Bilal: How did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, respond to them when they greeted him while he was in prayer? He said: “He was gesturing with his hand.”

Adhan before dawn

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Bilal gives the call to prayer at night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer.”

Omar bin Al-Khattab said: “Abu Bakr is our master, and he freed our master” (meaning Bilal).

I entered upon the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, while he was praying the noon prayer in Mecca.

Spending

The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, entered upon Bilal and had a bunch of dates. He said: “What is this, Bilal?” He said: Prepare it for your calamities. He said: “Aren’t you afraid that he will be vapor in the fire of Hell?” Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear disparagement from the Owner of the Throne.”

Night prayer

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: “You must perform the night prayers, for this is the practice of the righteous before you, and the night prayers bring one closer to God and prevent one from sin. And expiation for bad deeds.”

The virtue of the call to prayer

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The muezzins will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection.” (Narrated by Muawiyah and others, and Bilal is the master of the muezzins.)

Prohibition of bad dates

Bilal brought Berni dates, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Where is this from?” He said: We had bad dates, so I sold two sa's of them for one sa's. He said: “Oh! The eye of usury, do not do it...”

Two rak'ahs of ablution

The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to Bilal at the dawn prayer: “O Bilal, tell me the most honorable deed you have done in Islam, for I heard the tapping of your sandals before my hands in Paradise.” He said: I did not do anything that was more hopeful to me that I had not been completely purified... except that I prayed with that purification what was written for me to pray.
