⚔️ The story of the Prophet Joshua bin Nun, peace be upon him (the righteous successor)

The name is in Arabic

Joshua bin Nun, peace be upon him.

Title

Moses' boy, the leader who conquered Jerusalem.

Chronological order

He came after Moses and Aaron, peace be upon them (he succeeded Moses in leading the Children of Israel).

Mission location

The Levant (Holy Land).

📜 Lineage and upbringing

Lineage: He is Joshua bin Nun bin Ephraim bin Joseph bin Jacob bin Isaac bin Abraham, peace be upon them. He is a descendant of Yusuf Al-Siddiq.

His position: He was a companion of Moses, peace be upon him, and he is the “boy” who was mentioned in the story of Moses and the righteous servant Al-Khidr: “And when Moses said to his servant, ‘I will not leave until I reach the Council of the Two Bahrains, or I have passed a few days’” (Al-Kahf: 60).

🧭 His succession to Moses

Heir to prophecy and leadership: After the death of Moses, peace be upon him, in the wanderings, Joshua took over the leadership of the Children of Israel by order of God, and he was their prophet and messenger.

Divine Covenant: God assigned him to complete the task that the children of Israel could not accomplish during the life of Moses, which was entering the Holy Land (Jericho).

🌅 Conquest of Jerusalem

Movement after the wandering: Joshua led the children of Israel after the end of the forty-year wandering period.

Fighting at Jericho: He besieged the city, and God promised him victory.

The miracle of trapping the sun: The greatest miracle of Joshua, peace be upon him, was when he conquered Jerusalem. Joshua began the fight on Friday, and near sunset, victory was imminent, but he feared that if the sun went down and Saturday (the day of rest for the children of Israel) came, the battle would stop, and thus the victory would be lost.

The answered prayer: Joshua prayed to his Lord: “Oh God, return it to me,” so God held the sun from setting until Joshua completed the conquest of the city. This is one of its characteristics that was mentioned by the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace: “The sun has not been held for any human being except for Joshua on the nights he walked to Jerusalem.”

Entering Jerusalem: After the conquest, Joshua ordered the children of Israel to enter the gate of the city, prostrating and saying: “Hittah” (meaning, remove our sins from us), but they disobeyed and entered, crawling on their poles, and said: “Wheat.”

📜 Sharia law and death

His leadership: Joshua, peace be upon him, continued to rule the children of Israel with justice and the Torah after Moses, and established the law of God among them, and they lived in relative luxury after they settled in the Holy Land.

Death: His age or exact date of death was not mentioned. But it was said that he lived after Moses for a long time, and died in the land of the Levant.

Note: The story of Joshua bin Nun is an example of a good leader obedient to God who completed the mission of his predecessor, and he had the miracle of trapping the sun, which is considered one of the greatest miracles of the prophets.
