📜 Lineage and upbringing

Lineage: His lineage goes back to Shem bin Noah, peace be upon him, and he is a descendant of the Prophet Noah, and one of the ancient Arab tribes (the Arabs).

His people: He was sent to the first people of Aad, who lived in Al-Ahqaf (which means sand).

Characteristics of the people of Ad: They were among the strongest nations after the flood. They were distinguished by their enormous physical strength, the size of their bodies, and their prowess in architecture and construction, especially building tall buildings with huge columns (Iram with the Pillars).

🕌 Hud’s invitation, peace be upon him

Polytheism: The people of Aad worshiped idols (Samoud, Sadda, and Al-Haba), and they had great power and wealth, but they were deceived by their power and became arrogant.

The beginning of the call: Hud, peace be upon him, began his call to his people, saying: “O my people, worship God. You have no god but Him” (Hud: 50), reminding them of God’s grace upon them and His empowerment on earth.

His people’s argument: His people did not respond to his call, and accused him of foolishness, madness, and lying. They saw that what he was calling them to was robbing their fathers.

Hood’s Challenge: Hood called on them to repent and seek forgiveness, and promised them increased strength and blessings: $O my people, seek forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send rain upon you and increase your strength to your strength. (Hud: 52). But they insisted on being stubborn and asked him to come up with a clear sign.

His patience: Hood continued to call on them patiently, relying on God alone in the face of their tyranny, and he did not despair of their call despite the few people who believed with him.

🌪️ Torment and destruction

The first sign: God withheld rain from them for three years, and the drought became severe.

Mocking: The people of Aad saw a cloud coming and thought that it would bring rain for them, so they rejoiced in it, so Hud said to them: “Rather, it is that which you hastened. It is a wind in which there is a painful punishment” (Al-Ahqaf: 24).

Violent winds: God sent upon them a violent roaring wind (extremely cold and strong in sound), which lasted for seven nights and eight decisive (consecutive) days. This wind would not leave anything without destroying it.

Salvation: God saved Hud and those who believed with him by His mercy, and He destroyed the entire people of Ad, so they became like empty palm trunks.

⌛ His age and death

His age: There is no definitive determination of his age, but he lived a long life, and it was said that he lived about 464 years.

Death: After the destruction of his people, Hood and the survivors moved with him and resided in a safe place, and he continued to worship God until God took his death.

Burial place: The most famous saying is that his grave is located in eastern Hadramaut, Yemen, and the place is known as the “grave of the Prophet Hood.”

Note: The story of Hood, peace be upon him, carries a lesson about arrogance in material power and the consequences of disbelief and disbelief in the messengers.
